# Issuer Definition

An issuer is a [Certificate Authority](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certificate_authority) authorized by a central authority (e.g. [Banxico](https://banxico.org.mx/)) to issue digital signature [certificates](/rest/certificate/definition).
